Terms & Agreements
Last updated September 2026
These terms govern the use of this website and the freight brokerage and carrier support services provided by Northern States Trucking INC ("the Company", "we", "us"). By submitting a carrier application or using our services you agree to the terms set out below.
1. Services
We arrange freight transportation between shippers and licensed motor carriers, and provide related carrier support services including dedicated lane setup, dispatch, trailer and truck/van rental, commercial insurance setup assistance, TWIC card application assistance, and freight factoring registration. Availability of any individual service is subject to capacity and eligibility.
2. Carrier Eligibility
To be onboarded, a carrier must hold active MC and DOT authority where required, maintain valid primary liability and cargo insurance, and provide accurate business and contact information. We may decline or discontinue onboarding where documentation is incomplete, inaccurate, or cannot be verified.
3. Fees and the Refundable Deposit
- A one-time refundable security deposit of $395 reserves a dedicated lane. It is returned in full after your first contracted load is delivered and the accompanying paperwork clears.
- All other service fees — trailer rental, truck/van rental, insurance setup support, TWIC assistance and factoring registration — are non-refundable once the service has been initiated or completed.
- Government and third-party charges, such as the TSA processing fee for a TWIC card, are paid directly to that body and are separate from our fees.
- Fees quoted on this website may change. The fees confirmed to you in writing at the time of onboarding are the ones that apply.
4. Client Responsibilities
- Provide accurate business, carrier and contact information, and keep it current.
- Maintain active authority and valid insurance coverage for the duration of the engagement.
- Respond promptly to booking, dispatch and documentation requests.
- Comply with all applicable FMCSA regulations and transportation requirements.
- Refrain from fraudulent activity, chargebacks, or providing false information.
5. Independent Carrier Status
Nothing in this agreement creates an employment, partnership, joint venture or agency relationship. Carriers operate as independent businesses and remain solely responsible for their own equipment, drivers, insurance and regulatory compliance.
6. Limitation of Liability
We are not responsible for delays, load cancellations, market rate changes, weather conditions, equipment failures, or indirect or consequential loss of income resulting from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Our total liability in connection with any service is limited to the fees you paid us for that service.
7. Termination
Either party may end the engagement with at least three days' written notice. Loads already booked and in transit must be completed. Fees for services already performed remain payable.
8. Rental Equipment
Rented trailers and vehicles remain the property of the Company or its equipment partners. The renter is responsible for lawful operation, fuel, tolls, citations, and any damage beyond normal wear and tear. Equipment must be returned in the condition in which it was supplied.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the time you submit an application is the version that applies to that application.
